The mother of Jelani Day says a celebration of his life will be held this Saturday, October 9th, 12 Noon, at the Danville High School auditorium. Day, a Danville Native, had last been seen August 24th in Bloomington, and a body found September 4th in LaSalle County was later determined to be that of Jelani Day. Day’s mother Carmen Bolden-Day says Saturday will be a celebration of Jelani’s life, the way he would have wanted it. She says Jelani will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetary this coming Monday.
AUDIO: We request that family be the majority of the people that are present (Monday). We would like for it to be more of a family environment on that day. We know that there are those who want to pay their final respects. They are more than welcome, but please respect the privacy of the family.
Bolden-Day says a private investigator continues to work on the case, and anyone with information, please call 618-223-0044.
AUDIO: Again, we are still seeking answers, and we will find those answers as to what happened to Jelani. I’m still asking everyone who hears me that if they have any information, no matter how small, that they can remember, from Tuesday August 24th; anything, that you’ve seen Jelani’s car, that you’ve seen him; anything pertaining to Jelani, it’s important. And we’d be interested in knowing any information.
Jelani Day graduated from DHS in 2014, from Alabama A & M in 2018, and had been working on graduate studies at Illinois State University.
