Members of the City Council’s Public Works committee were told last night that February will mark the end of a six month trial period shutting down the leachate collection system at the old H & L city landfill. If the EPA allows the city to permanently shut down that system, Mayor Williams says it would save the city lots of money….
The abandoned landfill site has been mentioned by some as a possible good location to place solar panels. But solar garden developers like to have a power sub-station nearby. And Alderman Jon Cooper noted ‘’it’s just a crap-shoot’’ as to whether any local site will be picked to receive state funding.
