During the Danville Area Community College Board meeting last week, a decision was made to bring in a consultant for a year, at a cost of $120,000, to help with some major computer system overhaul work. DACC Vice-President in Charge of Finance and Chief Financial Officer Tammy Betancourt says this is an overhaul “technology operation review” of the school’s Student Information System and Enterprise Resource Planning.
It’s with Ellucian (and thats E-L-L-U-C-I-A-N), that’s the software, Ellucian, we use their colleague system. So it’s a software provided for our SIS/ERP system.
Betancourt also says that as both the SIS and ERP gradually migrate to the cloud, it’s a matter of making sure they are working and communicating with each other, to avoid future complications. For example, if a major problem with the servers does occur, the systems could be back up a lot more quickly. The one year contract began on the 1st of November.
