If you really want to get into the Holiday spirit, why not let Danville Light Opera help you out? DLO’s production of ELF the Musical is the weekend of November 19th through the 21st, at Fischer Theatre. Jeramiah Strain is directing, and he recently told 1490 WDAN’s Linda Bolton on Newsmakers that ELF is simply the right show for everyone right now.
AUDIO: So when I proposed the show to DLO, I was like, ‘hey, we need to do this show this year for the Christmas season because especially of the year people had last year.’ Everybody needs some sort of Christmas spirit this year, and I didn’t think of any other best way to do it besides doing ELF the Musical.
A couple roles in the show are double-cast. Thomas Strain will be playing the ELF role in two of the shows, and Bryan Goode in the other two. Thomas Strain says, this is a special challenge.
AUDIO: Well at first I was super intimidated, because Buddy the Elf is such an iconic role; props to Will Ferrell for that one. After a while I just got totally into it. And the more I researched it and the more I got into his head space, it’s just so hard to describe.
Ashton Greer and Kelli Carlton are the two people playing Jovie. DLO’s ELF the Musical production will be Friday night the 19th at 7 PM, Saturday the 20th at 2 and 7 PM, and then Sunday the 21st at 2 PM. For tickets, go to atthefischer.com.
