Police in Tilton are continuing their investigation into a serious car-pedestrian accident that occurred Thursday evening (February 14, 2019). Police Chief David Cornett says when emergency personnel arrived on the scene in the 400 block of Crestwood Street they found a man had been run over by a car. Chief Cornett says the man was transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana where he was last reported to be in critical condition.
Police have not released the man’s name, but Chief Cornett says he is a Tilton resident in his seventies. He adds the woman who was driving the car involved is also a senior citizen. She was booked at the Public Safety Building on a charge of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
The Tilton Chief told VermilionCountyFirst.com News his department is still gathering information in the case, so other details are not being released at this time. It was around 6:10 p.m. Thursday that Tilton Police and Firefighters responded to the call.
