The Danville District 118 Board has unanimously approved to once again have Danville High School’s graduation on the football field next June. As DHS principal Tracy Cherry explains, everyone seemed to like doing it the old school way. So they’re making just one adjustment and doing it again.
AUDIO: We had it on the football last year, and it was amazing. The hardest part was the heat, but we’re going to push it back for an hour later so the sun will go down a little bit. But it was just beautiful, and to be outside we could have more parents be involved because of the restrictions the state had at that time.

Danville High School principal Tracy Cherry addresses the District 118 School Board about DHS graduation plans.
Danville High School’s graduation date on the field next June will be Saturday the 4th at 6 PM. Just in case, there is a rain date set up for Sunday the 5th at 3 PM at Palmer Arena.
Meanwhile, a policy allowing District 118 teachers who have tested positive for COVID to teach remotely from home has been passed. Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddes says this works out well for teachers, as well as students, especially with the shortage of substitute teachers.
AUDIO: This is something that the Board of Education had in place last year. While we did have additional funding to help us with this, this is something that they want to do to continue to support our staff.
The new policy will begin January 3rd.
