It was back in 2002 that Vermilion Advantage was formed to combine the Vermilion County Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce divisions. And some organizational changes look to be coming in 2022 as well.
Community Development Coordinator Nicole Van Hyfte says 2021 was obviously a year of change at Vermilion Advantage.
AUDIO: Well, you know, besides COVID, Vermilion County has kind of thrived this year. Bringing Tim Dudley to Vermilion Advantage, and then obviously he hired me (laughter). So he and I together as a partner have just really been able to take Vermilion Advantage in a different direction. We’ve really built up the Chamber of Commerce this year, we’ve had several events within a community, we’ve brought back business after hours.
So what’s next? Van Hyfte says one big key is going to be, moving along after COVID.
AUDIO: As soon as this pandemic lifts up, I’m ready to go. New events, new programs, new ways to just get all of the right people in the same room to help our community push forward. I think a big part of what we do at Vermilion Advantage is to just sit back and look at our community, and know everybody and know everything that’s going on, so that we know who we can put in the same room.
Van Hyfte says there will definitely me a major announcement from Vermilion Advantage this coming spring when it comes to personnel and structural changes, with eyes on the future.
