Classes are resuming Wednesday at Garfield Elementary School in Danville after the school was evacuated Tuesday because of a natural gas leak. The school day ended just as it was beginning Tuesday (February 26, 2019) because of a natural gas leak. The leak has since been fixed so classes are resuming,
Associate Danville School Superintendent John Hart explained the situation Tuesday morning….
Hart says no child will be left at home alone….
Associate Superintendent Hart added the leak was outside the school…
[District 118 staff members made sure all of the children evacuated from the school were safe.]
Hart also noted Garfield is a neighborhood school….

Assistant Superintendent Hart was talking with VermilionCountyFirst.com News on the scene. Students were immediately evacuated from the school once the apparent natural gas leak was discovered. A crew from Ameren quickly responded to the scene to deal with the problem.
Again….Garfield Elementary School will be in session Wednesday, February 27th.
