The June 28th Illinois Primary this year will have a rarity. Instead of an incumbent facing a challenger within the same party, or two or more challengers within the same party battling to face the incumbent in November, the state’s new 15th U.S. Congressional District will have two incumbents fighting it out in the GOP Primary. Mary Miller, Congresswoman in the current 15th Congressional District, will be running for re-election and received the endorsement last week of Former President Donald Trump.
But current 13th District GOP Congressman Rodney Davis of Taylorville is also running for the new 15th District GOP voter green light, and countered Trump’s endorsement of Miller by releasing a statement last week that he is the more legitimate conservative candidate, saying Miller has supported never-Trump tickets and that she does not live in the new 15th District.
Once again, the primary election in Illinois is June 28th, and the General Election date this year is November 8th.
