Danville Area Community College is offering a chance to get a High School Equivalency diploma along with certifications in the manufacturing field. It is in conjunction with DACC’s Corporate Education and Vermilion County Works.
Classes begin April 1st, 2019 and will run approximately 8 to 10 weeks (depending on how fast the work is completed). During the morning, the students will attend HSE (High School Equivalency) class, and in the afternoon the students will work on the manufacturing piece.
Students who complete the classes may qualify for a paid position at one of the local manufacturing facilities. College officials say it is an opportunity to see what it is like to work for a company, show them what type of worker you are, and quite possibly walk away with a good-paying, full-time job with benefits.
To qualify, the student must be 18 years old or older and must read at or above the 9th grade level. Candidates will be referred to Vermilion County Works to see whether they qualify for their program.
The process takes a few weeks, so if you know someone who may be interested, they should contact the DACC Adult Education Office at Prairie Hall, Room 119, or call 217-443-8782.
