Illinois lawmakers are reacting to the death of an Illinois State Trooper on Thursday…the second trooper to be killed this year.
Trooper Brooke Jones-Story was inspecting a semi truck along Route 20 near Freeport when another semi tractor trailer crashed into her squad car. Jones-Story died from injuries suffered in the crash.
State Representative Mike Marron of Fithian is among those calling on motorists to pay more attention on the roads and follow the law….
Troopers are increasing their enforcement of ‘Scott’s Law’. The law requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching an emergency vehicle along the highway. Drivers can face up to a $10,000 fine and the suspension of their driver’s license if they fail to obey the law.
