Voters all over Vermilion County will decide Tuesday (April 2, 2019) who will serve on city councils or village boards and school boards, along with library and fire trustees. And in some areas, Chief Deputy County Clerk Lindsay Light, who is Supervisor of Elections, expects voter turnout to be higher than other areas. She says Westville and Hoopeston are two of the areas she expects the higher turn-out.
In Westville there are six candidates vying for three seats on the Village Board. They are Gary Delhaye, Robert ‘’Porky’’ Sandlin, Mary Ann Hughes, Michelle Ghibaudy, Robert Cope, and John Razmus II. There are also six candidates running for four seats on the Westville Unit 2 School Board. They are Robert (Bob) Clifford, Tim McFadden, Matt Shuey, Paul Shannon, Matt Smith, and Deborah (Vogt) Seripinas.
In Hoopeston, there are six candidates running for three seats on the Hoopeston Area Community Unit District 11 School Board. Those running are Lee Cox, Chris Small, Dave McFadden and Connie Catron…who are running for two seats up for election in part of the Hoopeston Area School District, and Rich Eisenmann and Johanna Gash, who are running for one seat from another area of the district.
And voters in the Carroll Township Fire Protection District will be voting Tuesday on whether they support issuing up to $500-thousand dollars in bonds to finance the construction of a new fire station.
