The announcement came late last week that Danville’s proposed Golden Nugget Danville Casino will have their day before the Illinois Gaming Board at their March 10th meeting. Danville Development LLC will be having a “suitability hearing.” Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Junior says, the board will be checking out the basics: the plans from breaking ground to opening.
AUDIO: They’ll done all the background research. Now what they want to know is to be sure that we have the finances, the capacity; and also they want to see exactly what it is that the developers are proposing as a final illiteration. So it’s kind of all those things wrapped up in one.
The mayor said he was figuring they’d be on the agenda for the March 10th meeting, but it felt good to get it confirmed for sure. And yes, a decision should be made after the hearing.
AUDIO: We will know that day. The board members should vote that day, just as we would in a City Council meeting. This is going to be an action item on their agenda.
And if they are given the okay to proceed, Williams says ground could be broken within 45 to 60 days out at the proposed location off Lynch Road on Eastgate Drive. That would mean late April, or early May.
