THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE:
People v. Chardey Austin 2020CF638 and 2021CF671
Chardey Austin, formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty and was sentenced today to a total of twelve (12) years in Illinois Department of Corrections. In 2020 CF 638, Austin pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a stolen firearm (a class 2 felony). In 2021CF671, Austin pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin (a class 1 felony). Austin received a six (6) year prison sentence for each case, to be served consecutively, and her total sentence shall be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release.
Austin was apprehended after a long–term undercover investigation that was completed by the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group. During the plea today, Judge Derek Girton heard stipulated facts that on multiple occasions Austin sold heroin in Vermilion County during 2020 and 2021. There were further facts presented that on one of those occasions, Austin was stopped by the police and possessed a stolen firearm.
“We are thankful for the hard work of VMEG and the Danville Police Department and all the efforts taken in order to ensure dangerous drugs and drug dealers are removed from our community,” stated State‘s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy.
People v. Eric Lang, 2021 CF 306 and 2021 CF 314
Eric Lang, formerly of Danville Illinois, pleaded guilty and was sentenced today to twelve (12) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. In 2021 CF 306, Lang pleaded guilty to one count of burglary (a class 2 felony), for which he was sentenced to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. In 2021 CF 314, Lang pleaded guilty to one count of robbery–victim over 60 years of age (a class 1 felony) for which he was sentenced to nine (9) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. These sentences are consecutive and the defendant will have to serve one year of mandatory supervised release after completion of her entire sentence.
