Jurors in a double murder trial in Danville heard today from an Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigator. Sergeant Timothy McMasters processed the crime scene where the bodies of 28-year-old Zarra Strickland and 29-year-old Theodore Hill were found on August 4th, 2015. Thirty-year-old Glen Torres is on trial accused of fatally shooting the victims and then dumping their bodies in the yard of a vacant home on Western Avenue. Torres has pleaded not guilty.
Sergeant McMasters said today (Monday, April 22nd, 2019) that the bodies were found stacked on top of each other ‘’crossed like an X.’’ He added they were near a tree line, and that it also appeared they had been moved to their final resting place by someone or some thing.
Sergeant McMasters testimony came as the prosecution continued its case in Vermilion County Circuit Court.
Jurors also heard from a lab technician who told jurors he conducted an analysis of the defendant’s shoes and found a mixture of human DNA. But the technician added the findings were unsuitable for comparison.
And the prosecution also called an Indianapolis man who testified that he was starting an auto salvage business in 2015 and purchased a vehicle on Craigslist for $400. The witness said he thought he was purchasing a vehicle merely for parts and was surprised when it started and he was able to drive it home. Police later impounded the vehicle in connection with the murders of Strickland and Hill.
