Danville Police are seeking information from the public as they probe a Wednesday afternoon shooting which left a man critically wounded. A witness told police the 25-year-old victim was shot in the area of the 900 block of Redden Court following a dispute and physical altercation involving several men.
Danville Police Commander Joshua Webb says no suspect information is currently available, and no other injuries were reported during the incident.
Police sealed off the area at the Fair Oaks Public Housing Area as they searched for a suspect Wednesday afternoon (April 24, 2019). At one point the police Emergency Response Unit searched an apartment, but the suspect was not there.
Commander Webb says the investigation into the shooting continues and no other information is being released at this time. Anyone who has information that might help solve this crime is asked to call Danville Police at (217) 431-2250 or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
Police have not said whether they think Wednesday afternoon’s shooting might be connected to a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening. Thirty-three year old Cedric Halthon was pronounced dead at the scene in the area of the 800 block of Sherman Street. Police Commander Joshua Webb says in that incident witnesses reported seeing a man wearing a black and white sweatshirt running from the area after the shooting. Police are still attempting to locate that man for questioning.
