Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has released the name of the pizza delivery driver who was shot to death in Danville last night (April 30, 2019). The victim is identified as 41-year-old Terry L. Gaines of Danville, who was a delivery driver for Dominos Pizza. Police continue their probe into what is the third homicide in Danville in the past week. Police Commander Joshua Webb says it was around 10:22 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress with shots fired in the area of Alexander and Madison Streets. When officers arrived they found Gaines had been shot and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Commander Webb says it was learned that Gaines had just delivered a pizza and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by two males who tried to rob him. Witnesses said they observed a brief struggle and then shots were fired. The two suspects were last seen running westbound from the scene. One of the suspects is described as a black male about six feet tall with a slender build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket or sweatshirt with a hood. The second suspect is also described as a black male, about five feet nine inches tall with a slender build.
No other injuries were reported during the incident.

Police combed the neighborhood overnight looking for evidence and trying to find anyone who may have information that could help solve this crime. If you have any information that might help you are asked to call Danville Police, or call Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 446-TIPS.
Last week police investigated two fatal shootings. One of those involved the fatal shooting of Roosevelt Anderson Jr. in the 900 block of Redden Court on Wednesday. The other involved the shooting death of 33-year-old Cedric Halthon in the 800 block of Sherman Street on Tuesday, April 23rd. Police arrested a suspect in Anderson’s death and are continuing their probe into Halthon’s shooting. They say there is no indication that the shootings might have been related.
