Danville, IL, April 5, 2021 – Have you ever heard of this saying? “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind. Always.”
Join United Way of Danville Area, Inc., Danville Public Library, Danville Library Foundation, and Vermilion Advantage as they bring our community together to learn a little bit more about one another on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Danville Public Library.
The Human Library is an event that provides a space for Readers to check out Human Books. Participants will have the chance to engage with volunteers that are there to tell their stories of trials and triumph. This program will allow participants to learn more about different experiences
through conversations. Jessica Augustson, Assistant Director of the Danville Public Library stated, “The Human Library method of conversation creates a space for dialogue between very different individuals who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to talk together. This event will provide a safe space to do just that.”
“We all share our own unique stories. One may never know how much their story can impact someone else’s future and provide hope,” stated Mary Surprenant, CEO of United Way of Danville Area, Inc. “Conversations like these will help break down barriers of prejudice, misunderstanding, and begin to open minds to walk this world with more empathy and acceptance.”
