Another nudge for the future of Downtown Danville was approved by the City Council Tuesday night. A Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Incentive Project grant for a new roof on the old Webster-Heskett-Mauerman building at 137 North Vermilion was approved. Shawn Davis, who’s company took over the building over the last two months, says the entire building is undergoing renovation, and the property will be used in multiple ways.
AUDIO: We’re going to be a co-working space. So there’s going to be a large retail space up in the front of the building. And then there’s going to be several office spaces in and around the perimeter of the building. And then we’re hoping to have a coffee shop or a little cafe in the back of the building; and then there will be a community room in the center of the building for everyone within the space to be able to share.
Davis says there is a prospective client right now for the retail space in the front.
