Motorists who travel Interstate 74 near St. Joseph are being alerted that work is getting underway on repairing bridges over the Salt Fork River and the Saline Branch.
Beginning Tuesday, (April 12th), the right eastbound lane of the interstate will close, and on Wednesday, (April 13th), the right westbound lane will close. The closures will extend over both sets of bridges.
The closures are necessary for a bridge deck overlay and substructure repairs. The work is expected to be completed by Labor Day (weather depending) when work is scheduled to shift to the left lanes. All of the work is expected to be done in November.
Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area…and should consider using alternate routes. Again, this work is being done on the Interstate 74 bridges over the Salt Fork River and the Saline Branch – just west of St. Joseph.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones. Obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
