Area residents will have lots of places to have fun over the Fourth of July holiday. On Wednesday, July 3rd, Turtle Run celebrates Independence Day with music, food, and fireworks.
Live music starts at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. After the fireworks at dusk Turtle Run will have more live music on the outdoor stage with a DJ and dance party inside. Turtle Run is located along Liberty Lane on Danville’s north side.

On Thursday, July 4th, Oakwood’s annual celebration begins early with breakfast at the fire station starting at 6:00 a.m. Oakwood’s 4th of July Parade starts at 11:00 a.m., followed by food and fun at the village park beginning at 4:00 p.m. There is live music at Oakwood Park starting at 6:00 p.m., and fireworks at dusk. There will not be a beer tent this year at the Oakwood celebration.
Some of the funding for the fireworks comes from video gaming revenues.
Another big Independence Day celebration comes later this week when the Danville Boat Club hosts ‘Thunder Over Lake Vermilion’ on Saturday (July 6th). Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. with a $5-dollar charge per person for those 11 and older. Children 10 and under are admitted free. Food and drinks will be available, and fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 Saturday night. Those fireworks are funded by donations from local business owners and members of the Boat Club.
And the week-long Covington 4th of July Celebration is continuing. On Wednesday night at 8 o’clock the Brat Pack will be providing music.
It will also be bracelet night on the carnival rides for $20 a person. On Thursday there is more live music at Covington Park starting at 5:00 p.m., followed by a huge fireworks show at 10:00 p.m. (Indiana time).
