A proposal to place solar panels next to Aqua Illinois Water Company’s treatment facility hit a snag at tonight’s (Tuesday’s) Danville City Council meeting. When the vote was taken there were not enough ‘yes’ votes to approve it. But there were also not enough ‘no’ votes to reject it.

Mayor Williams says the city will seek additional legal advice on the matter. But Aqua Illinois Water needs a very quick answer because it must pay $370-thousand dollars by Friday in order to get some state tax credits for the project.
Some neighbors again voiced concerns at the City Council meeting about how the solar farm could impact the value of their homes. But Aqua Area Manager Bob Ervin says the water company has taken new steps to address the property owner’s concerns….
Ervin said that if the solar panel project is approved the energy generated would save the water company an estimated $100,000 a year. He says that would help the water company stay out of the rate hike arena for some time.
