1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program with host Laura Williams got off to a big start this week. On Monday’s program, Laura spoke with Jim and Betty Richards from Save the Lorraine Theatre in Hoopeston, and they happened to mention a show coming to the Lorraine Friday night June 17th at 7 PM. Jim Curry is a John Denver tribute performer. And as Betty Richards explains, when they contacted his agent about coming to Hoopeston, something special happened.
AUDIO: She’s going “OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH!” And I said, “What’s wrong.” And she goes, “We have friends that live in Hoopeston that have been followers of Jim Curry for years and years.” And she said, “Yes, we will make this work. You tell us what your budget is; we will try to make this work.” And they did, and they’re coming.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday’s program, Laura Williams talked with Elizabeth Osborn from the Potomac Library. Yes, they’ve been located for years in the little building across from the Casey’s and next to the American Legion. But towards the end of the show, Osborn announced plans for a new 24-hundred square foot library.
AUDIO: And already my mind is going crazy with all the ideas to do in there. In that process, maybe we can get the place open longer hours; get a few more people in to help me. I’m just goosebumped because this is something………I love my little building, it’s very unique, it’s so old. There’s a character here and I hate to lose it……
But the bigger library is coming to Potomac, and Osborn says more should be known by sometime in June.
