Hundreds of children have been taking advantage of this month’s ‘Breakfast in the Park’ program at Danville’s Lincoln Park. The Quaker Oats Company provides the food and drinks – free of charge – in order to give needy children a hearty breakfast.
Some Quaker retirees and interns have been volunteering their time to distribute the food. Joyce Miles retired after working for the company for thirty years and is one of those helping out….
Ken Pickard is another Quaker Oats retiree who was helping at the park. He notes the children get more than food…
A number of groups have stopped by to conduct activities with the kids, including Danville Police and Firefighters.
Miles thinks the program offers something special for the kids…
This is the 14th year that Quaker Oats has provided the program. Although it is held at Lincoln Park any children can participate. The program continues through the end of this month.
