THE FOLLOWING IS AN INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RELEASE
WARREN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces ongoing road rehabilitation work on State Road 26. S.R. 26 is now closed from S.R. 55 to approximately 2-miles west of S.R. 55, near Pine Village. In Phase Two, crews are resurfacing, widening the road, and replacing culverts along the road. This work will also improve truck turning radii at the S.R. 26 and S.R. 55 south junction within the town of Pine Village. It’s expected to reopen in mid-August, weather permitting. Access will be maintained to residences and businesses in the area. The official detour for S.R 26 utilizes S.R. 55 to S.R. 352 to U.S. 41 and back to S.R. 26.
Milestone Contractors L.P. was awarded the $18.1 million contract. The project will resurface and widen the lanes to 12’, replace inadequate drainage culverts along this stretch of S.R. 26. Phase One of this project includes ongoing work on S.R. 26 from U.S. 41 to approximately 2-miles east of U.S. 41. That section is expected to reopen a the end of July, weather permitting. In addition, the project will improve ADA access and address drainage concerns.
