THE FOLLOWING IS AN INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RELEASE
VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a speed reduction near the intersection of State Road 63 and State Road 234 near Cayuga will be in effect on or after Tuesday, August 2, weather permitting. The speed limit will be reduced from the current 55 miles-per-hour to 45 miles-per-hour through the intersection. Crews will be installing speed reduction signs on S.R. 63 on both approaches of the intersection with S.R. 234, along with speed limit signs reflecting the new 45 miles-per-hour limit. INDOT is also installing a school zone speed limit of 50 miles-per-hour on S.R. 63 from approximately 635-feet south from the center of Falcon Dr. to approximately 300-feet north from the center of County Road 600 N. The current speed limit through that area is 60 miles-per-hour. Going forward, the school zone speed limit will be 50 miles-per-hour from the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on school days only. Crews will also be installing Advance Warning Flashing Beacons in conjunction with the school advance warning signs.
