The month of October will begin on Saturday the 1st, and a special fundraiser for the Survivor Resource Center is happening at the Fischer Theatre. It’s called “Dancing for the Stars.” The center’s Tara Wright recently explained the plans to Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show.
AUDIO: We’re getting five great couples together. We’re so super excited about this; to be able to have it on the grand stage of the Fischer and bringing everybody in. We want to pack the house; because the voting isn’t just going to be about the great celebrity judges we’ve got coming on, but there’s going to be a “people’s choice” vote as well. So you’ve got to bring your cash dollars, you know. But the biggest part is bringing all the support we can to Survivors.
And like the television show of a similar name, what you’ll see is couples where one is known for dancing, and their partner is known for something else. But all of the participants will be local people, as the center’s Brooke Kuchefski explained on The Big Show.
AUDIO: We have Amanda Brown and Chris Bell. And Chris Bell is actually one of our prevention educators; we’re happy to have him. Andrea Troxel and Fire Chief Don McMasters; Merrit Spicer and Police Chief Chris Yates; Heather Pierce and our Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; and then Hannah Clingan and Hunter LaFave, they’re our yoga people in town.
Judges will include Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden, Amy Thompson from Liberty Village, Nicole Van Hyfte from Vermilion Advantage, and Steve Brandy from Neuhoff Media.
The emcees will be Chris Hightower and Sharda Pascal.
It all begins at 7 PM Saturday October 1st at the Fischer Theatre. Please go to atthefischer.com for tickets; and the Survivor Resource Center will receive support for everything they do for those in need: from individual, family, and group therapy; helping with protection orders; and more than anything, being there for victims when they need someone.
