The attorney’s office representing the David S Palmer Arena Board has released a statement saying former General Manager Joe Dunagan was given the option of tendering his resignation by 3 PM August 25th. He was terminated after failing to show up for a meeting to discuss it that morning at 9 AM. Meanwhile, board chair John Spezia says he has resigned from the board pending some business, but had planned to step down soon anyway.
AUDIO: I’d already told Joe and some of the other ones that it’s time for me to move on. And a lot of things we’d done; policies and evaluations, and I thought pretty good about where we’re at with it. That was one of the reasons I was ready to move on; let somebody else do this stuff.
Spezia says the business still pending is the planned sale of the basketball floor and basketball goals. He says in the meantime he most likely will not attend the board meeting this coming Tuesday, saying it’s time to move away from everything.
And speaking of next Tuesday’s David S Palmer Arena board meeting, let’s correct a mistake we made, that next meeting is indeed next Tuesday, September 13th, at 5:30 PM.
