Supporters of Peacemaker Project 703, named after Officer Chris Oberheim’s badge number, showed up at Saturday’s 2nd Annual Chris Oberheim Memorial Softball Game at Danville Stadium for a very special day of serious reflection, along with the fun of softball. A little skydiving took place beforehand, and incredible renditions of the National Anthem and God Bless America were sung by Retired Police Officer Dennis Rogers.
Amber Oberheim delivered an emotional statement to the crowd about how much her husband loved softball, as well as how important it is to support and protect our law enforcement officers. Amber told us, right before she took the field to coach third base for the Champaign Police Department softball team, that Danville sets a great example for supporting law enforcement, and that other communities should pay attention.

Pregame activities included a special arrival from the sky.
AUDIO: But the fact that we have people show up and support our organization, and the other organizations that are being supported tonight, along with our law enforcement family, is heartwarming. It’s something that some of the other area communities need to maybe look at, and understand how to do that. Because our law enforcement officers, and their families, need every ounce of respect and support that we can give them.

Amber Oberheim addressed the crowd prior to the games, and later coached 3rd base for the Champaign Police.
Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr says it is a great moment for Danville to be able to host this event.
AUDIO: We’re proud of the work that the Oberheim Project 703 does, and we’re glad to support them every year.
Participating on Saturday were softball teams from the Danville Police; and the two police forces Chris Oberheim served: Champaign and Decatur.
