A meeting is scheduled for this Thursday evening October 27th at 6 PM, in the Vermilion County Board chamber. Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency Director Russell Rudd says invitations were sent out to representatives from all municipalities, with hopes of updating the county’s mitigation plan with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Rudd says it’s time to update the plan, and not surprisingly, COVID slowed things down.
AUDIO: Things change over time. The last five years we’ve had the pandemic. And with the climate change we’ve had more flooding and more draught. So, that’s why every so many years you have to review your plans and see what’s coming up. It covers all hazards.
A mitigation plan is defined as “reducing the impact of natural hazards on people, properties, and the environment.” The Vermilion County Board chamber is in the County Administration Building at 201 North Vermilion in Danville.
