Fresh off last weekend’s Grand Re-Opening, other events are already being planned at Danville’s historic Fischer Theater. Steve Nichols, co-chairman of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, says a committee is studying what it wants to bring to the Fischer…
{”One of our missions – we’re very serious about making sure it’s available to all members of the community – no matter about economics. So we want to provide entertainment across the board, not just big fancy shows but educational things,” said Nichols, ”so that everybody is involved in the theater. We truly believe that it’s Danville’s theater, and that’s the way we’re going to market it. And that’s what we’re going to do,” added Nichols.}
Nichols is looking forward to next Friday and Saturday (October 4th and 5th, 2019) when the Fischer will be showing the ‘Wizard of Oz’…..
{”We’re going to do the movies over two nights, and then we’re going to have characters from the show – from the DLO (Danville Light Opera) show kind of going around and making it a special event for everyone,” said Nichols.}
The movie will be shown Friday, October 4th, as part of the First Friday events downtown. Show times are 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Friday. And it will also be shown at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5th, as part of the Second Annual Pumpkin Festival in Downtown Danville.
