If you stopped by the southern Mad Goat Coffee along Gilbert Street Friday morning on Veterans Day, you probably walked in on the traditional kick-off of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Fundraising Season. Special Events and Development Coordinator Melissa Wilhelm says, they’re ready for a great holiday season. Last year’s goal for Vermilion County was $78,000; and they collected $102,000. This year’s goal, $105,000.
AUDIO: For the whole Christmas campaign actually, that’s our goal. So that includes mail-in checks. That includes business sponsorships. That’s includes any donations that we receive in any form or fashion. We’ve had United Way out here this morning. We’ve had Vermilion Advantage out here this morning. We need bell ringers, no doubt about it. So volunteer bell ringers, that’s kind of the deal right now. And go to our website, sadanville.org.
The red kettles were distributed on Veterans Day, and will be collecting with volunteer bell ringers up until Noon on Christmas Eve.
