Danville Police are probing a local homicide. Sergeant Eric Olson says Police were dispatched to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center around 11:20 p.m. Sunday (November 10, 2019) for a 23-year-old Danville man being treated there for a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.
The victim told police he was in his home in the 900 block of Hazel Street when three black males came in and attempted to rob him. Police were told that is when the 23-year-old ran from the home and was shot while fleeing. When police went to the victim’s home looking for possible suspects they found a 20-year-old Danville man inside who was dead. Police say it appears he died from gunshot wounds.
The young man who initially showed up at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center has since been transferred to Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was reported in stable condition. Names of the two men who were shot have not been released.
Sergeant Olson says the investigation is on-going and no other information is being released at this time. Anyone who has information regarding these crimes is asked to call Danville Police at (217) 431-2250, or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
