Four central Illinois projects are being honored at the Governor’s Mansion Thursday (November 14, 2019) as winners of 2019 Governor’s Hometown Awards. The Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service selected the ‘Step Up Vermilion County’ project and the Urbana Park District Advisory Committee for honorable mention from all entries submitted. The Colfax Restoration Project and Mattoon’s ‘Fit-2-Serve: Community Bridges’ entries are receiving some of the top awards.
The Governor’s Hometown Awards program gives formal recognition to those who contributed to their community’s quality of life through projects that had strong volunteer support, met a need, and made a definitive impact.
