OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center is urging the City of Danville to consider alternatives to closing a segment of Logan Avenue. Carle wants to permanently close a short segment of Logan north of North Street for its planned new $70-million dollar medical campus.
Dr. Jared Rogers, President of OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, says the closing would significantly impact access to the hospital, creating a critical delay for patients seeking care, particularly emergency services…..
But Dr. Charles Dennis, Chief Medical Officer at Carle health system, notes the medical treatment begins with paramedics in the field. And he adds…
Representatives from Carle plan to make a presentation at Tuesday night’s (November 19, 2019) Danville City Council meeting about their project. They say if the project moves forward as planned the new medical campus should be completed in late 2021. It is proposed for an area bounded by Gilbert Street on the east, Logan Avenue on the west, North Street on the south, and Madison Street on the north.
Originally the estimated cost of the new Danville medical campus was placed at $50-million dollars, but that figure has been upgraded to $70-million dollars.
