A Westville Police Department Captain who has been battling cancer died early today (Sunday, December 8, 2019). Allan Mackiewicz is being remembered as a dedicated public servant to the Village of Westville.
The announcement about his death on the Police Department’s website notes Mackiewicz was also heavily involved in the Westville Recreation League, serving as president of that board for several years, and playing an integral part in the many improvements added to Zamberletti Park for youth sports and activities over the last few years. Ironically, Captain Mackiewicz died over the same weekend that a fund-raising event was being held to make additional improvements at the park.
The announcement added that Mackiewicz’ dedication to serving and protecting the community will be missed not only by his fellow officers, but the entire Village of Westville.
Mackiewicz is survived by his wife, Marla, and two daughters.
