A Danville High School junior was the winner in a field of six contestants over the weekend to be the guest conductor at the Danville Symphony concert. Neveah Cooke called it a ‘’once in a lifetime opportunity to conduct a professional orchestra at such a young age.’’
Cooke is a drum major with the high school’s marching band, and plays string bass. She won the online voting contest that was held by the Danville Symphony Orchestra and took her place on stage Saturday for the Christmas Concert.
Dentist Rand Ashton finished second, retired veterinarian Wes Bieritz placed third, DACC President Stephen Nacco was fourth, retired OB-GYN Dr. Donald Rokosch was fifth, and District 118 Superintendent Alicia Geddis finished sixth in the voting.
The Danville Symphony Orchestra has additional concerts coming. For more information visit the DSO web site at www.danvillesymphony.org, or call the Symphony office at 443-5300.
