The jobs picture for Vermilion County and the City of Danville showed solid improvements from the month of November to the month of December.
In Vermilion County, the unemployment rate dropped from 5.2% in November to 4.8% in December. Vermilion County’s rate stood at five percent flat in December of 2021.
The City of Danville’s jobs outlook improved as well, with the unemployment rate dropping from 6.3% in November to 5.3% in December. Danville’s rate in December of 2021 was also 5.3%.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase of 300 jobs overall when comparing December of 2022 to December of 2021. Looking at more specific categories; a gain of 200 jobs was reported in Manufacturing, while gains of 100 jobs were reported in Education and Health Services, as well as in the “Other Services” category. We should mention, however, a drop of 100 jobs in the Retail category from December of 2021 to 2022.
