Fifty-Second District State Senator Paul Faraci says he intends to keep the spirit of the late Scott Bennett alive and well. Right now, Faraci’s office is doing exactly what Bennett’s office was doing at this time last year: collecting store bought and handmade Valentine cards for Veterans at the VA Illiana Danville Medical Center.
They can be dropped off through February 9th at Faraci’s district office at 201 North Vermilion, or at the Vermilion County War Museum at 307 North Vermilion. Faraci says he knew Scott Bennett well. But he keeps finding out things that he did not know.
AUDIO: I knew Senator Bennett for 12-14 years. More and more people I talk to just loved the guy and all the things he did. I considered myself one of his best friends. I didn’t know half the stuff he was doing for the people of Vermilion County.
Another thing Senator Bennett was known for was his annual Sock Drive. And after his passing in December, the sock drive continued; with Faraci’s staff recently delivering them to Crosspoint Human Services and Fair Hope Children’s Ministry. But while at Fair Hope, they found out something else that was needed. And Faraci is spreading the word.
AUDIO: But they also mentioned this time of year especially, and maybe your listeners can help out; they need pajamas primarily for six-year-olds and up, up until the teenage years. And especially when it’s cold like this.
If you have pajamas you’d like to donate, drop them off at Senator Faraci’s office at 201 N. Vermilion. If you’d like to drop them off at Fair Hope, you’ll need to call ahead for an appointment. But they’re located at 1225 East Voorhees.
