A tweet on the Vermilion County Bobcats’ Twitter Page has stated that the team has ceased operations, effective immediately. A quote from owner Ellen Tully states, “Regretfully, the Bobcats have ceased operations. It’s a sad day for hockey fans in Danville, but I want to personally thank them for their loyalty to the Bobcats over the past two seasons.”
An additional tweet states that “Information on season tickets refunds will be announced in the near future.”
ORIGINAL STORY:
With the recent Sunday, February 5th Vermilion County Bobcats game against the Quad City Storm at the David S. Palmer Arena being declared a forfeit when Bobcats players did not show, the Mervis Industries Facebook page has released a statement rescinding any family ownership or contact concerning the Vermilion County Bobcats, and have stated that they will have no comment. The statement on the Facebook page is as follows:
“Neither Mervis Industries nor any of the principal owners of the company have any ownership of, nor involvement with, the Vermilion County Bobcats; and as such we have no comment about the ongoing issues surrounding the Bobcats.”
Ellen Tully, daughter of Lou Mervis, was listed as the owner of the Vermilion County Bobcats at the start of the current Southern Professional Hockey League season.
