Members of the Danville City Council’s Public Services Committee reviewed plans last night (Tuesday, February 25, 2020) for spending $4.8 million dollars in Community Development Block Grant Funds. Danville Grants and Planning Manager Logan Cronk says over $1.1 million dollars from the five year program would go toward infrastructure improvements. He outlined some other areas where funds would be spent…
{”Home Rehabs is at $1.25 million dollars. Removal of Blight and Dangerous Structures is at $1.25 million dollars. Support Non-homeless and Special Needs at $150,000. Support Homeless Needs – $75,000. Support of Public Services – $100,000. And Administrative costs at $875,000,” said Cronk.}
The plan must be approved by the Danville City Council.
Cronk says meetings were held earlier with about 30 local agencies discussing how the funds should be spent. He added the public can still make suggestions on how the funds should be spent.
Cronk adds there is money available in the plan to demolish about 25 structures….
{”The way we’re trying to allocate the funds this year is a more broad spectrum. Of course we’ll take the Strategic Plan from the (City) Council,” said Cronk.
…..In the plan I would like to keep it broad and take recommendations from all parties on where we should be demolishing structures,” added Cronk.}
Committee members were told that over the past four months about 30 homes have been rehabilitated in Danville using Community Development Block Grant money. Recipients of the help must meet certain income guidelines.
