THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On 04/02/23 around 1:27pm, Danville Police responded to the 1600 block of E. Fairchild ST in reference to a call of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers began investigating the scene when they were notified that a victim had arrived at the OSF Sacred Heart Emergency Room. Officers responded to the emergency room and located a 19-year-old Danville man with non-life threatening gunshots wounds to both his legs. The victim stated he was walking in the 1600 block of E. Fairchild St when an unknown person started shooting at him. During follow-up investigation, it was revealed that a Marron colored Chevrolet sedan had been driving past the victim when a suspect began shooting at the victim from the backseat of the vehicle. No further suspect information is currently available and no other injuries were reported during this incident.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
