Fire swept through a Danville home at 409 Sherman early Saturday (April 8, 2023). Assistant Fire Chief Todd Spicer described what firefighters found when they arrived on the scene shortly after 6 o’clock…..
{AUDIO: ‘’Basically what we had was a two-story house that was fully involved in fire when we got on the scene. We quickly tried to knock down what we could from the outside. We’ve done some primary searches and haven’t found anybody. Reports are that it is a vacant structure or has been recently vacated.’’}

The fire occurred at shift-changing time for the department and some additional firefighters were called to the scene to assist. The blaze also caused some damage to a home next door….
{AUDIO: ‘’We’ve had a little bit of damage, but it’s not the first time we’ve been on a fire here. So some of it, we think is exposure from the first time from the fire the last time in the garage area. But we have gotten some exposures, a little bit of damage. Just some melted siding, but nothing severe.’’}

A crew from Advanced Medical Transport stood by at the scene but there were no injuries. Spicer says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
