Another popular summer event in Vermilion County is just around the corner. The Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation is getting set to host their ‘Cheeseburgers and Fun’’ event. It is being held Saturday, August 12th at Kennekuk County Park, northwest of Danville.
Admission is free, although donations will be accepted. Some area car clubs will have displays that day…including the Illiana Antique Auto Club, Junkyard Dogs, Mustang Club of Danville and the Central Illinois Corvette Cruisers of Illinois. The Annual Bunker Hill Car and Tractor Show runs from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will feature a cruise to the Illiana Health Care Medical Center (the VA) in Danville.
The Kennekuk Road Runners will be hosting their Howl at the Moon 8-hour Run/Walk starting at 8 o’clock that morning at the park. There will also be displays at the buildings in the Bunker Hill Historic area and a chainsaw carving demonstration. And pictures will be on display showing updated plans for phases 2 and 3 at the Conservation District’s Education Center at Kennekuk County Park.
‘’Cheeseburgers and Fun’’ will also feature live entertainment with ‘Rodman Rail’ from 2 until 4 p.m., ‘Left for Dead’ from 5 until 7 p.m., and ‘Lady Luck’ from 8 until 10 p.m. on August 12th.
The event is a fundraiser for the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation. Money raised from the Cheeseburger Cookout go toward projects of the Foundation as well as the Environmental Education Center at Kennekuk County Park. The cheeseburger cookout begins at 3:00 p.m. Other food from vendors will be available starting at 11:00 a.m.
