The overall jobs outlook for Vermilion County and the City of Danville improved from the month of February to the month of March.
In Vermilion County, the unemployment rate fell back from 6.0% in February to 5.4% in March. Vermilion County’s rate also stood at 5.4% in March of 2022.
The City of Danville’s jobs picture looks better as well, with the unemployment rate decreasing from 6.1% in February to 5.7% in March. Danville’s rate in March of 2022 was 5.0%.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase of 300 jobs overall, when comparing March of 2023 with March of 2022. In looking at more specific categories, Government jobs were up by 300, while gains of 100 jobs were all found in Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Transportation-Warehousing-and Utilities, Educational and Health Services, and Leisure and Hospitality. However, a drop of 400 jobs from a year ago was reported in Professional Business Services, along with a drop of 100 jobs in Financial Activities.
