ABOVE: DACC BOARD OF TRUSTEES HOLD THEIR APRIL 27TH MEETING IN FRONT OF NEWLY UNVEILED BASKETBALL BANNERS
The Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees honored their two basketball teams at the start of Thursday (April 27th) night’s meeting. Both teams made Division II Nationals, and had a combined record of 48-16.
Coach Ericka Harris took her women’s team to Port Huron, Michigan; where they finished the year 8th in the country. After all the smiles and laughs at the meeting, she took it all in.
AUDIO: This group is forever special. People have to talk about them forever. I am forever grateful for them and this experience that they’ve brought to women’s basketball, to DACC, to my life; it’s amazing to be here. It really brings everything together. We’re already dreaming about next year, now it’s time to get further.

DACC Women’s Coach Erika Harris, DACC’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, and Men’s Coach DaJuan Gouard were all honored at the start of the DACC Board of Trustees meeting.
For men’s coach DaJuan Gouard, their third place national finish right on their home floor got followed up with the news that DACC has the tournament for at least two more years. And he’d like to do it again, with that final step.
AUDIO: I know these kids need me, but I need them just as much. And we worked together to achieve a goal, and we did a pretty good job working towards it. As well as finishing third in the nation sounds, it’s kind of a sour taste in my mouth about not getting that big trophy; so……

Meanwhile, after exploring it for many months, the DACC Board of Trustees has officially reinstated women’s volleyball to the DACC athletic program. President Dr. Stephen Nacco says they’ll be ready to go in the fall of 2024, after going full speed ahead on preparation.
AUDIO: So the cycle would start with National Signing Day, the first day is November 1st. Having a coach in place in the summer would enable us to start recruiting. So then as of November 1st, we would start bringing players in. By January, we would have to officially join the Midwest Athletic Conference.
DACC Women’s Volleyball will be a Division II team competing in Region 24.
