Former Tilton Police Chief David Cornett has been given a pre-trial date of Tuesday, June 6th at 9 AM at the Vermilion County Courthouse.
Cornett is facing charges involving the Alleged Stealing of Firearms from Police. He faces eight combined counts of Theft and Official Misconduct for the alleged stealing of firearms that had been in the custody of law enforcement.
The filed complaint lists various guns that Cornett allegedly seized unauthorized control of; including a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun, a Colt 45 semi-automatic pistol, a 22 pistol revolver, and a 9mm Luger WIN cartridge.
Cornett appeared in the courtroom during his initial appearance Monday afternoon May 1st. A non-guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
