SPRINGFIELD… Upon news of the four guilty verdicts on all four counts of the “ComEd Four”, State Representative Mike Marron (R-Fithian) released the following statement.
“I came to Springfield to bring the honest, hard-working perspective of the 104th District to the heart of Illinois government, and I have been a vocal advocate protecting the rights and integrity of our district and the people that call Illinois home.
“It is time for my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to join me in standing up for these hardworking Illinoisans and say enough is enough! To stop corruption in Illinois, we need to pass stronger ethics reforms.
“Throughout this trial, the public got a first-hand look at how that influence was peddled for personal gain. Illinoisans should be furious that this occurred and we should all work much harder than Illinois Democrats have worked to ensure this kind of unethical behavior is stopped and prevented in the future.
“Our former Legislative Inspector General Carol Pope quit her post in disgust at the lack of true ethics reforms passed by supermajority Democrats in Springfield. It is time the Democrats finally get serious about holding themselves accountable and do what is right for the people of Illinois.
“I stand for the hardworking taxpayers in this state that have had enough of the political games, corruption, and complete failure of public trust propagated by the House Democrats. It is time to usher in these much needed reforms and pass truly meaningful transparency measures.”
