Danville is hosting a special event this weekend for the American Legion. And Jeanie Cooke, Executive Director of the Danville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, is excited about it. ‘’We have the Illinois State Golf Tournament, bringing golfers from three states. And it will be held simultaneously at both Harrison Park and Turtle Run. On day two the golfers will switch,’’ says Cooke.
‘’It’s a great event and it’s wonderful to have Veterans and their families here from all over. And it’s going to be a great weekend,’’ added Cooke.
Danville American Legion Post 210 is serving as official hosts for the tournament. The Veterans will be honored with a special opening day ceremony on Saturday, August 5th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Harrison Park Golf Course. The ceremony includes American Legion Riders, an American Legion Color Guard and opening remarks from Mayor Scott Eisenhauer.
