THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE
The Illinois State Police reported over the weekend that 24-year-old Jacob Lovell of Danville lost his life in an accident that occurred around 9:15 PM Saturday evening (May 6th), on eastbound I-74 near mile post 202 near Oakwood. The State Police report says Lovell was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it struck a pothole in the right lane, causing Lovell to be ejected off the motorcycle and onto the roadway.
While the car right behind Lovell’s motorcycle was able to swerve to avoid striking him in the roadway; the next vehicle, a 2017 Ford Escape, was unable to avoid striking Lovell, not seeing him until it was too late. Lovell was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital. The driver of the Ford Escape was not injured.
